LEGOLAND New York Resort and parent company Merlin Entertainment recently announced that the opening of the resort has been postponed to the year 2021. The decision comes in accordance with the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as various restrictions from state and local governments issued to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The measure stands alongside the closure of venues and postponement of events across the globe.
Stephanie Johnson, Divisional Director, LEGOLAND New York Resort said in a recent press statement that nothing is more important to the company than the health, safety, and security of their team. He mentioned that the company is concerned about the safety and security of their partners and the communities they serve.
He also shared that the world is in an unprecedented situation that has affected businesses all over the globe. He informed that by opening LEGOLAND New York Resort in 202, the company is building an attraction that not only meets their high standards but also provides its guests with the best possible experience.
He further added that LEGOLAND New York Resort is grateful for the support and understanding from their guests and neighbors in a time when the company is navigating the challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic. He also said LEGOLAND looks forward to building unforgettable memories with guests and their families when the resort opens next year. He concluded that the resort will continue to closely monitor the situation and communicate any updates via social media, email and its website.
Any annual passes or single-day tickets previously purchased would be valid and honored when the resort opens in 2021. Guests who have booked vacation packages through LEGOLAND Vacations will be given the opportunity to be the first to book tickets for the 2021 season.
Resort authorities still plan to hire more than 1,000 Model Citizens or employees to staff the theme park and hotel. It will also invite all hourly employees who received an offer to work for the 2020 season to join the team in 2021.
