Tourism Ireland in the US has joined forces with Verizon Media, in a new initiative to promote the island of Ireland. Verizon Media owns big brands like HuffPost, AOL and In the Know, as well as other well-known media names.
A team from Verizon Media has been visiting Ireland, capturing lots of great footage to create three new videos – about food, Irish whiskey and unique accommodation in Ireland. The videos will go live next month on popular digital platforms, including HuffPost, AOL.com and In the Know – and will be seen by around two million potential American visitors.
The film crew shot in various locations around Ireland – including Teeling Distillery, Slane Distillery, the Burren Smokehouse, Ballynahinch Castle, the Butter Museum and the English Market in Cork and the Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America and Australia, said: “Tourism Ireland is delighted to collaborate with Verizon Media on this project, to create three new videos for its ‘In the Know’ series. The videos will be seen by some two million people across the US – inspiring them to put the island of Ireland on their vacation ‘wish list’ for 2019.
“Tourism Ireland has prioritised North America as a market which offers a strong return on investment, in terms of holiday visitors and expenditure. In 2019, Tourism Ireland aims to surpass the record-breaking performance of 2018 and to grow revenue from North American visitors by +8% to €1.99 billion, generated by 2.17 million visitors.”
