Other major light installations have returned to Customs House, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Central Park and in Chatswood.
The sails of the Sydney Opera House are featuring the work of Indigenous artists in a display called Songlines.
Music during Vivid 2016 also features performances from Bjork, New Order, Bon Iver and Boy George.

The festival’s Ideas program will include talks by movie director Spike Jonze and the creator of US TV series House of Cards, Beau Willimon.
Last year, the festival attracted a record 1.7 million visitors.
Sydneysiders and visitors have been urged to use public transport to get to the Vivid sites, which will be illuminated from 6:00pm to 11:00pm each night.
Public transport in the Sydney CBD and the North Shore will be bolstered by 4,500 extra services running through the festival period.
Friday night’s launch also coincides with a number of sporting and music events at Moore Park and police have warned larger crowds than usual will descend on the city.
