She was crowned on Saturday night at Constance Ephelia Resort and Spa by the outgoing Miss Seychelles…another world 2014 Camila Estico.
Aside from winning the coveted crown and becoming the new Miss Seychelles…another world, Linne won the best effort project award.
Her project is entitled ‘Children Restoration’ and is aimed at working with young children whose parents are prison convicts. Her goal is to prevent the children of offenders from one day getting involved in criminal activities due to the fact that their parents are absent.
Linne was among the 12 contestants who were vying for the crown last Saturday night. She was then chosen to be one of the top five finalists alongside Steffanie Underwood, Mariam Bertin, Petra Richard and Genevieve Rene.
Present to witness this auspicious occasion were the Minister for Tourism and Culture Alain St.Ange, chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board Sherin Naiken, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce & Industries Marco Francis, sponsors the contestants’ family members among other guests.
In her address just before the pageant show started, Miss Naiken thanked the girls for being part of the Miss Seychelles…another world 2015. To the winning contestant, she urged her to make Seychelles proud.
“The Seychelles Tourism Board will open doors for you but remember it is your dream. You will have to take the chance,” she said.
Miss Naiken also thanked all the sponsors who have come on board for this year’s pageant and to JOUEL for being the sponsor of the crowns for the past three pageants and Mary Geers of JEWELS, the sponson of the Beauty Queen’s Crowns.
Genevieve Rene was crowned second princess and also won the Miss Talent title. Petra Richard whose evening gown was judged as the best also took the first princess title.
The Miss Personality title went to Alanah Barallon while Angie Arnephy won Miss Photogenic.
Praslinoise Stasia Lafortune was the winner of the ‘People’s Choice’ award. Steffanie Underwood who is also one of Seychelles’ prominent athletes won the Miss Sports title.
After enjoying a sumptuous buffet dinner while being entertained by the Breeze band, guests watched as the 12 beautiful ladies paraded on the well-decorated catwalk.
The show was being directed by Seychelles’ top artistic director John Etienne with the help of his dedicated team.
The contestants first paraded in their casual wear sponsored by the School of Visual Arts. Kiki de Mer Seychelles was the sponsor of the girls’ swim wears which they paraded in during the second part of the show. And finally the last round was for their stunning evening gowns.
Members of the jury for the night were top French designer who is currently based in China Yannick Machado, Airtel’s managing director Amadou Dina, hairstylist Ryan Moncherry, managing director of ROCKIT, Miss Seychelles 1999 Annamary Jorre de St.Jorre, governor of the Central Bank of Seychelles Caroline Abel and owner of l’Archipel Hotel on Praslin Louis d’Offay.
Apart from Breeze band hose who were given the task to ensure that the guests are well entertained for the night were the Sokwe band, Babylone group from Algeria, Jany de Letourdie, Antoinette Dodin and Joe Samy.
The master and mistress of ceremony for the night were Shamir Peermohamed and Miss Seychelles…another world 2012 Sherlyn Furneau.
In his address at the crowning ceremony, Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture said the Seychelles Tourism Board will open the door of opportunities to one of our island beauties, but she must take the lead to grab these chances and fly.
The Minister echoed words of thanks to all those who has faith in the way the country is moving, by supporting such events that is placing our culture and in so doing the people of Seychelles at the centre of the island’s development.
“Our culture is part of our unique selling points, not just the sun, sea and sand, and our people are part of this culture” the Minister added. Minister St.Ange thanked Members of the Tourism Industry present and said that because of their continued support the marketing of Seychelles was working and that even this beauty pageant would be doing its part to increase the visibility of the Seychelles because CNN Television was present doing a reportage on Seychelles and were filming the pageant itself. “This was another example where the approach of using culture to consolidate our tourism industry was working for Seychelles” the Minister said.
Aside from a number of prizes received from various sponsors, Linne will be representing Seychelles in the Miss World beauty pageant to be held later this year and will become the country’s international tourism ambassador among others. The 21 year old newly crowned beauty queen is a met technician at the Seychelles National Meteorological Service at Pointe Larue.
The three crowns this year was sponsored by Jewels, a local jewellery outlet in Victoria which was formerly known as African Jewels with Mary Geers as its managing director.
