‘Bomb in cargo’ – Turkish Airlines makes emergency landing in Delhi

turkish-airlines-bomb-threatA Turkish Airlines flight (TK-65), en-route from Bangkok to Istanbul was forced to make an emergency landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) after the pilot reported a “bomb threat”.


The pilot reportedly told the Air Traffic Controllers that a message was written with lipstick on the bathroom mirror which said there was a bomb in the cargo.


Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma said NSG and bomb disposal squad were pressed into service. He also said that no explosive was found inside the cabin and the cargo position was being checked. The entire area was cordoned off and the fire brigade was alerted.
Joint interrogation teams of Intelligence Bureau and Research and Analysis Wing will interrogate all passengers as well as crew members. The Home Minister and Home Secretary are conducting a high level meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs which is also being attended by the Director of Intelligence Bureau.
