It has also planned a new direct flight from New Orleans to Germany that would be starting from 3rd May onwards. State officials are in Berlin this week with an aim to promote the new direct flight service. The Louisiana Office of Tourism is currently at ITB 2017 that is one of the biggest travel trade shows in the world.
The department is sharing exhibit space with Condor Airlines that would be offering nonstop route from New Orleans to Frankfurt in Germany.
Germany is among the three most significant overseas markets for Louisiana as per the news release from the Office of Tourism. German tourists comprise nearly 10% of all the international travellers to Louisiana. For as much as 79% of German visitors, their visit to Louisiana is actually their first one.
On the other hand, for the ones who have been making multiple trips to the state, the average visitor has made at least three trips to the state.
The department estimates that while in Louisiana, German travellers generally tend to reside in the region for about seven nights, and end up spending about $400 a day per person.
Louisiana has witnessed a 36% rise in international tourism in the year 2015.
And, the Condor flight would make direct travel much easier, according to Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser.
He said that there has been quite a substantial rise in the number of global travellers to this part of the world. However, one of the drawbacks include a restricted amount of international carriers at Louis Armstrong International. He feels that with the introduction of this flight, they would expect an increase in the number of international tourists to Louisiana.
