First, Business and Economy Class seats will be available on board an Airbus A340-600 aircraft. The flight times have been optimally coordinated to fit in with the global Lufthansa network. Until late 2012, Jakarta was flown from Munich via Singapore.
“We are delighted to be offering our passengers direct flights to Jakarta again and even more flights to Kuala Lumpur. Indonesia and Malaysia are important countries for business and leisure travel and we are confident that our customers will appreciate the new travel opportunities to south-east Asia and enjoy using them,” said Kay Kratky, Member of the Lufthansa German Airlines Board for Operations & Hub Frankfurt. “We will be offering 127 weekly flights to 22 destinations in Asia in future.”

Indonesia is the fourth most populous country on Earth. Its capital Jakarta has some 28 million inhabitants, making it the biggest metropolitan region in south-east Asia and an important traffic hub. Jakarta is the banking centre of the country and a major centre for the food and beverage industry as well as the textile and leather industries. The city on Java’s north-west coast is also a popular destination for tourists from all over the world, who come to enjoy the beauty and cultural diversity of the many Indonesian islands.
