Lufthansa passenger flight Airbus 320 pilot very skilfully dodged a disaster, when three illegal drones were spotted within 900 meters of the protected air space. The flight was attempting to land after getting green signal by the control tower, at Bilbao airport in Spain.
The flight was completely packed with almost 168 passengers when it nearly missed a catastrophe on Saturday, 21st May. The sky was clear and sunny, which increased the visibility, and the pilot took an evasive action.
According to aviation authority personnel, “The pilot saw them almost by accident because at this stage, one of the most critical in the landing process, the crew is usually concerned with the instrumentation.”
Police search has been going on currently, to find the owners of the three drowns. Experts guessed that each of the drones probably weighted almost three kilos, and they could have created a grave impact on the flight.
Right after the pilot reported about the incident, police started to hunt down the drones from helicopter but they failed to find any trace of those three.
The Spanish Agency for Aerial Navigation informed that an investigation is going on. If they manage to find the owners soon, the owners would have to give a fine up to 250000 Euros, as it is illegal to fly drones inside restricted air space in Spain.
