One of Europe’s most popular golf and leisure destinations, Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community has drawn the curtain on another successful hosting of European Tour Q-School Stage 2. The Greg Norman designed Lakes golf course first hosted European Tour Q-School in 2012 and has established itself as a firm favourite with golfers of all abilities around Europe. The 6,300 metre par 72 golf course is part of the 45-hole Lumine resort, with The Hills and The Ruins courses completing the golf offering.
Calle Carlsson, General Manager Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community says, “We are honoured that The European Tour continues to recognise Lumine as a Tour-calibre golf course. We already receive much praise from amateur golfers seeking golf-breaks throughout the year, but to have the tour’s vote for five consecutive years, means a lot to us.”
The European Tour Qualifying School awarded the field at Lumine with 18 qualifying spots. First place was won by Scotland’s David Law who posted a 12-under par winning total; second place was taken by England’s Robert Coles with 11 under par and tied third was awarded to Ross Kellett (Scotland) and Billy Hemstock (England).
Carlsson continues, “We have seen some exceptional golf on The Lakes course this tournament, and wish all those who’ve qualified the best of luck in the final stage. It has been a pleasure to partner The European Tour once again and look forward to watching these future stars excel.”
Designed by two-time Major Champion and World Golf Hall of Famer, Greg Norman, The Lakes course is positioned on the lowest lying land on the property, navigating its way through areas of wetlands and natural vegetation. As the name suggests, water is a regular hazard for golfers, and careful bunkering and undulating greens make The Lakes course a stand out experience.
The Troon managed property is only 50 minutes south of Barcelona and is home to a luxury Beach Club and a state-of-the-art golf academy. Neighbouring the property is Europe’s most popular theme park, Port Aventura, a comprehensive meetings and conference centre, the coastal towns of Salou and Cambrils, both renowned for their nightlife and cuisine, and just ten minutes away is the cultural town of Tarragona.
