macdonaldsWith recent reports claiming that one in four teens will face obesity before the age of 15*, Macdonald Botley Park Hotel & Spa is addressing the issue head on with the launch of their ‘Teen Gym Fitness Programme’. Located in the Hampshire countryside with the finest spa and leisure facilities, the 4* hotel, spa and leisure club will be the first of the UK’s largest independent hotel group, Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, to launch the initiative.

The programme itself has been specially designed to encourage teens to take independent steps towards a healthier and more active lifestyle, and in understanding the pressures teens face, Macdonald Botley Park Hotel & Spa has created a warm and friendly atmosphere for them to feel completely comfortable in when working out. Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer, Daniel Bender, will be running the classes each week, and with his expert knowledge combined with his fun and enthusiastic nature, he plans to make the group classes an enjoyable experience for all.

‘Encouraging a healthy lifestyle from a young age is so important in today’s world. The quick pace of society and readily available foods loaded with sugar make it extremely easy to forego exercise and healthy nutrition. The new ‘Teen Gym Fitness Programme’ will give teens the confidence and knowledge they need to maintain a healthy attitude and lifestyle which they will reap the benefits from in future years’, comments Daniel.

Not only will classes educate teens on how to use gym equipment and their embedded programmes effectively, but it will also introduce groups to the different types of training available, both aerobic and anaerobic. The gym programme will see teens focus on mixed-intensity aerobic exercise through cardiovascular training using treadmills, stair mills and elliptical trainers, with an additional focus placed on muscle strengthening exercises and resistance training set to include sit ups and push ups, combined with the use of exercise bands and hand held weights.

Commencing on Sunday 25th April 2016, the new programme will be open to teenagers between the ages of 13-15, available as part of the Vital Health Club’s Child Membership package priced at ¬£20.00 per month. Starting with a class capacity of four, Macdonald Botley Park Hotel & Spa has the ability to up numbers to eight teens per class depending on demand.
