As of July 1, 2017, Tourism WA will be amalgamated into the new portfolio of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation. This will include the Department of State Development, parts of the Department of Commerce (ie Innovation,
Defence and Industry Development), parts of Department of Premier and Cabinet (i.e Trade Offices and Office of Science) and Tourism WA.
Current Department of State Development Director General Stephen Wood will take on the role as acting Director General of the new of Department Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation. He will, at the same time, take on the role as acting Chief Executive Officer of the Western Australian Tourism Commission (trading as Tourism WA).
Tourism WA’s current CEO Gwyn Dolphin‘s last day as head of the agency will be this Friday. Mr Wood will take over as acting CEO of Tourism WA from July 1.
Tourism WA will continue to operate largely ‘business as usual’ although, under the new leadership of Chairman Nathan Harding and A/CEO Stephen Wood, pursuing opportunities from the amalgamation agencies to further grow the State’s tourism industry.
