Madras, an Oregon town with 6000 residents will witness the total solar eclipse on August 21, 2017. But the solar eclipse tourism is now in boom. The flights and cruise in US are offering great deals to see the eclipse. Now the town of Madras is getting ready to welcome the tourists, who are ready to see the total solar eclipse.
On the morning of 21 August, a 70-mile-wide swath of land in America from Oregon to South Carolina will plunge into darkness during the day. This solar eclipse will be first visible from US since 1979 and it also known as the first coast-to-coast total solar eclipse in 99 years. Now the people in US are ready to witness this solar eclipse.
The 21st August total solar eclipse will also drive an expected 100,000 people to the tiny town of Madras, Oregon. Twenty-four of the visitors will stay at Lysa Vattimo’s house. Lysa Vattimo commented that this will be an organized chaos. She is currently the operational member of City of Madras Solar Eclipse Planning Group, a team formed more than two years ago after city organizers realised they could have a serious logistics problem on their hands.
According to the astronomers, Madras is a best location to view the solar eclipse from the land because of its high altitude, big plateau and the climatic condition will be favourable than other locations.
The US Space Agency, NASA lists nine other cities as ideal for watching. But as the smallest and, some say, optimal viewing spot along the route, the ranching town 12 miles from the Warm Springs Indian Reservation will experience the onslaught of eclipse chasers quite dramatically.
Now, Madras is hoping in tourism surge due to solar eclipse. The town and surrounding campsites have rented nearly 700 portable toilets to meet demand, with garbage trucks scheduled to run nearly 24 hours a day to transport trash to huge dumpsters before it begins to smell in the summer heat.
The St Charles Medical Center of Madras & Bend comes with the aid of medical assistance to the tourists, who will come to Madras. The doctors have cancelled vacations. The restaurants are getting ready to offer the foods, by taking the resources for one week of customers.
