There are about fifteen delegates from community groups and tourism businesses from across Prince Edward Islands who are making a small business trip to the Magdalen Islands to research and discover new ideas and possibilities on how to increase the tourism opportunities in French communities.
Gilles Arsenault, the economic development officer for a business group that represents the francophone business community on P.E.I., is managing the weekend trip starting that begins.
Gilles Arsenault said the Magdalen Islands are the great location to explore out because it has a lot in common with P.E.I. and is a popular destination for tourists.
There’s a lot of restaurants, bistros and bar, a lot of things revolving around the water and the sea and the beaches. The trip is a sort of “economic mission”.
This business opportunity is a new venture to scope out what businesses in the Magdalen Islands are doing right regarding tourism in hopes of partnering with them or emulating their techniques in French communities back on P.E.I., he said.
This high profile business group will arrive on September15th and spend the following Saturday visiting different tourist attractions and meeting with people in specific industries- travel, tourism and hospitality.
They said that they don’t want to just be there as tourists, they want to be there as business partners and explore if there is different possibilities that they can bring forward to the economy of the island.
