The regional news media has reported that the Office of Tourism of Maine is planning to increase the marketing of cruise vessels with an aim to upgrade the experience of tourists and therefore more amount of tourists would be heading to Maine thereby increasing its potential as a popular cruise destination.
They have been pushing to lure a large number of tourists.
In fact certain towns have started banning cruise ships amidst concerns that rising cruise traffic is likely to usher in disruptions to this part of the world.
The residents in Southwest harbor has already approved a six-month-long ban last week and the residents of Tremont are also considering a similar ban.
The office has awarded a marketing contract to a Portland-based company last month after it took over the management of cruise promotion from the Maine Port Authority.
