Mojácar in South East of the Province of Almeria has participated in the 1st Conference on “Tourism, Innovation and the Environment in Rural Spain”. It was organized by the Association of The Most Beautiful Towns and Villages in Spain. The conference was hosted at the Senate in the city of Madrid, Spain’s Central Capital. In the conference sessions, Emmanuel Agüero, Mojácar’s Deputy Mayor and Tourism Councillor, represented the town that researched the present as well as the future challenges that municipalities encounter.
Significant political figures and businesses making presentations comprised the General Secretary for Regional and Local Finance, the General Director of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, the General Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment, the Endesa Foundation and Telefónica Spain, among others.
Besides, important subjects like tourism promotion and mutual strategies to meet the challenges of the sector were few presentations of great interest to Emmanuel Agüero for his town like new opportunities and existing subsidies regarding technology and communication to allow Mojácar residents as well as visitors to access all potential in terms of telephone systems and the digital world.
In terms of energy, he was equally keen on the potentialities that Endesa Foundation provides like lighting of monuments and examples of artistic heritage. Also, he was eager to find out ways to deal with finances and support to those municipalities of artistic or historical interest (such as Mojácar) who are keen to bury or eliminate external electrical wiring.
