MakeMyTrip, India’s leading travel company, on 6th October officially announced the launch of its alternate accommodation platform – Rightstay. The application is an independent platform from MakeMyTrip app and is currently available on Android and web. It provides alternative stay options like villa, residential apartments, home stays and guest houses. Rightstay enables customers to rent unique places that offer great, authentic experience at affordable prices.
Alternative accommodation led by homestays is fragmented and relatively a new concept but has the potential to revolutionize the industry as it not only provides a relaxing experience but also by brings accommodation options in even remote parts of the country that were earlier out of reach as conventional stay option of hotels are scarce in these regions. MakeMyTrip is the dominant market leader in the online travel space in the country with 29% market share (as per Milward Brown report) among all OTAs in the online hotels segment. Being a pioneer in the travel segment, MakeMyTrip realizes that “one-size-fits-all” approach does not work while addressing the growing needs of the new age traveler. With Rightstay, MakeMyTrip intends to disrupt the homestay and non-hotel stay options segment. The aim is to connect travelers to local hosts and build a strong community that brings new experiences to travelers. The endeavor is to also help hosts by providing them an additional source of income by allowing them to directly register their property on the platform.

We already have a head-start with more than 10,000 properties across 200 cities live on Rightstay.”
Rightstay allows the hosts to directly register the property on the platform and lets both property owners and guests to interact before making any transactions or booking decision. This gives both the customer and the property owner a sense of security and reliability. Also the users can rate each other and the property owners and are secured via insurance.
