The Magic of the Night 2015 festival was a hugely successful event with an estimated 50,000 local and foreign visitors to the event, said Malaysia’s Federal Territories Minister,Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
Besides the floats contest, where 17 floats from the state paraded on the lake in Putrajaya, the four-day programme comprised various other events such as an arts and crafts exhibition, photography and selfie competitions, the 1Malaysia Green 1Malaysia Clean event and fireworks display.
“If this positive response continues for the other events on the calendar for Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 (MyFEST 2015), our target to reach 29.4 million tourist arrivals with a revenue of RM89 billion for the year 2015 will become a reality,” he said at the closing ceremony of the Magic of the Night 2015 Sunday.
“Efforts to organise various events, festive celebrations and fun activities can encourage tourists to stay longer, increase their holiday spending and return to our homeland for visits.
“In the long term, it will contribute to the Malaysia Tourism Transformation Plan 2020 which targets 36 million tourist arrivals and RM168 billion in tourism revenue,” he said.
He also called on all parties, including federal and state agencies, the private sector and tourism industry players, shopping malls and also every Malaysian, to jointly work together to ensure the success of MyFEST 2015.
