The hybrid airline has selected Panasonic Avionics and Aeromobile for in-flight communications named Malindo WiFi and Malindo Mobile, the company said in a statement.
“Malindo Air will begin offering Panasonic’s eXConnect in-flight broadband connectivity and eXPhone mobile phone services powered by Aeromobile. The airline will offer this service without limiting users to a number of applications or websites,” it added.
Malindo Air Chief Executive Officer, Chandran Rama Muthy, said, these new services, which will leverage on Panasonic and Aeromobile’s latest technology in in-flight connectivity, are proof of the airline’s commitment to enhancing current products and services, in line with expansion plans in Asia.
With the global mobile phone service eXPhone powered by Aeromobile, passengers can use voice, data, Short Message Service and browsing services right from their mobile device using the onboard cellular network.
Panasonic’s eXConnect service allows passengers to access a broadband Wi-Fi connection to surf the web, send and receive email, stay connected to news and social media, and more, as they travel at 30,000 feet (9,144 m) above ground.
