The Swiss Tourism Awards are a prestigious international recognition awarded solely to the destinations with an excellent reputation on the Internet as “holiday destinations”.swiss
The Malta Tourism Authority actively takes part in various events throughout all the regions in Switzerland. In the past years, MTA has increased its efforts to promote the Maltese Islands in the Swiss market and has been present at fairs, road shows, trade events and other public relations activities.
In order to ensure a balanced exposure of the islands’ potential, various advertising campaigns in different types of media were carried out. Some of these campaigns included social media, print and radio.
The number of Swiss tourists visiting Malta and Gozo has increased by 19.5% during the past two years and this year there is already an increase of 8% for the first nine months of the year, when compared to the same period last year.
Malta and Switzerland are connected through the three main Swiss airports – Zurich, Geneva and Basel. Air Malta operates from Zurich five times a week in winter and daily in summer, while flights from Geneva operate once a week in summer. Air Berlin operates twice a week in summer from Basel.
