The accused Mohammed Abubakar forced the air-hostess to take a selfie with him. He also violated air travel norm by smoking inside the toilet of the flight.
The man was arrested from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) after the Damam-Mumbai Jet Airways flight landed. He was booked under Indian Penal Code sections 354 and 336. He was also charged with Aircraft Rules section 25.
The air hostess stated that the man caught her hand and demanded to take a selfie at first. Even though the girl objected, the man kept on following her. He finally crossed his limit by grabbing her shoulder and forcefully taking a selfie.
When the man started to misbehave, the girl raised her voice and four crew members gathered around. The hostess stated that Abubakar went inside the toilet after the crew members arrived. He was allegedly smoking inside the toilet.
The man claimed to be an employee of a hotel of Damam in Saudi Arabia, and was supposed to take another flight to Gujrat from Mumbai. According to Abubakar, the entire selfie episode was just for fun.
According to sub-inspector V. S. Pawar, a probe is currently under process to know how the man managed to bring cigarettes and lighter inside the flight.
