Expedia announced the name of its CFO Mark Okerstrom as its new CEO after the former CEO Dara Khosrowshahi announced his plans of joining Uber.
Okerstrom was with Expedia from 2011 and took the role of the chief financial officer. He received promotion after the resignation of Dara Khosrowshahi.
The new president and CEO was earlier responsible for the acquisition of Airbnb competitor HomeAway and acquired the company for $3.9 billion 2015.
Khosrowshahi mentioned that Mark closely worked with him and supported in overcoming every major milestone in the company since the past 11 years. He was happy to pass the responsibilities in the best hands.
Khosrowshahi was excited to see Expedia grow under his leadership.He mentioned that Okerstorm was a strategic and tireless leader who brought the best out of him to serve Expedia’s interest in every step.
Khosrowshahi will still be a board member of the travel-booking site.
