Marriott International, Inc. has appointed Rena Hozore Reiss as executive vice president and general counsel, reporting to chief executive officer and president Arne Sorenson and serving as a member of the executive team of the company.
Most recently Reiss was declared the executive vice president of the brand, general counsel and corporate secretary at Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
Reiss is actually a veteran at Marriott since she had served the law department of the brand from 2000 to 2010. And, she had last held the prestigious position of the senior vice president and associate general counsel.
Arne Sorenson said that they were excited to welcome Reiss back to Marriott to lead their legal function. She feels that Reis is well-equipped with 17 years experience in the hospitality industry that would largely complement their world-class legal team.
In her most recent role Reiss had led a global legal team with offices in Hong Kong, Zurich, Chicago, Delhi, Beijing supporting all facets of the business of Hyatt including compliance and governance, worldwide development, operations, litigation, brand marketing. Information technology and intellectual property.
Furthermore she also supervised the risk management team of the company and the group of corporate transactions.
Before joining Hyatt, Reis had held positions of responsibility as a member and leader of the Marriott International legal team supporting the company’s development efforts in the region of Americas.
And prior to joining Marriott Reiss worked as a partner at Counts & Kanne, Chartered, Washington D.C. and served as an associate general counsel for the Miami Herald Publishing Company.
Rena Reiss succeeds Ed Ryan who is the general counsel of Marriott since 2006 who had recently announced his retirement.
