The Marriott’s headquarters in the US has used the Internet of Things (IoT) to create a ‘guestroom lab’. The hotel currently operates 30 brands under its portfolio post the acquisition of Starwood.
The technology permits the guests to use virtual assistant for organizing wake-up call, starting yoga routine on a full-length mirror, setting temperature in the shower and asking for housekeeping services- the requests can be made by text or voice.
Nowadays guests want to personalize everything and it has extended in their hotel experience too.By teaming with the best –in-class partners Marriott was leveraging the mobile and voice-enabled technology giving the guests to set the room giving them the flexibility to create a relaxing environment and productivity for the business travellers said Stephanie Linnartz, Marriott’s global chief commercial officer.
IoT technology in hotel will help in the design and construction of hotel rooms more efficient and sustainable with the use of multiple systems, devices and application.
Marriott International will create the futuristic hotel room in collaboration with Samsung and Legrand.
Samsung will create products as ‘intuitive’ lighting and voice-activated room controls while Legrand has specialisation in power, light and data services.
Karim Khalifa, senior vice president, global design at Marriott was proud to revolutionise the guest experience along with the hotel operations and construction.
