marriott-hotelsIn the next 20 years Marriott International is estimated to emerge as a market leader.

This globally acclaimed hospitality brand is expected to open about 40 deluxe hotels in 2018 representing a figure that would offer it 422 luxury properties by the end of the year with some 200 more in the pipeline.

The openings would include all of its luxury flags The Luxury Collection, EDITION, Bulgari, W Hotels, St. Regis, Ritz Carlton Reserve, The Ritz Carlton.

But the company does not include Autograph Collection that is a fusion of four-and-five-star independent hotels in its count. Within the initial part of next decade the Bethesda, MD based lodging company should possess over 600 luxury properties.

Powered by the last year’s acquisition of Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Marriott is leading to a crucial space counting about 275 luxury hotels following its acquisition of the Fairmont and Raffles brands.

Recently Four Seasons had cracked the century mark in terms of locations for its luxury hotels and resorts.

On the other hand Shangri-la is closing in on that target. Hyatt Corporation and Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. each possess about 100 luxury properties all across their different brands including the Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Andaz, Conrad and Waldorf Astoria.

Though Marriott has witnessed a large expansion it is actually an industry dominated by the likes of independently owned and operated single properties and small groups like those represented by The Leading Hotels of the World, Relais and Chateaux, Preferred Hotels and Resorts, Small Luxury Hotels that together boast of more than 1,500 member properties.

The brand has just made an entrance into Switzerland with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel de La Paix in Geneva.

The Ritz Carlton would be adding at least four locations next year and this includes some scenic Jiuzhaigou Valley in China and a desert resort outside Dubai. Its popular hotels in Istanbul and Berlin would be completing extensive renovation while it would commence taking reservations for its cruise line that is scheduled to set sail in the year 2019.
