The hotel operator topped the list for the first time with nearly 50% of surveyed respondents stating they would like to work for Marriott International. The survey attracted more than 250 responses, across a number of demographics and saw a mix of types of hotels. This year, 40.43% came from luxury/resort hotels, 45.65% from city hotels, while the remainder was made up of hotel apartments and mid-market properties.
Alex Kyriakidis, President and Managing Director, Middle East & Africa for Marriott International said: “We are delighted that Marriott International has been recognised in Hotelier’s Salary Survey as the best hotelier to work for and we are proud to receive recognition. Our commitment to ‘people’ is at the heart of everything we do and this result shows that our hotel teams continue to be true ambassadors to Marriott International. At Marriott International, our core values make us who we are, and as we integrate our teams, we will leverage our people-focused environment to our 65,000 associates across Middle East & Africa and remain focused on retaining and fostering talent.”
The award follows on from Marriott International’s acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. in 2016, creating the world’s largest and best hotel company. Globally, there are now 500,000 associates within Marriott International and the region specifically, has grown to 65,000 associates across the Middle East and Africa.
