She will be participating in the South Pacific Tourism Exchange (SPTE) in Adelaide on April 11-13, 2018 as the first new ambassador.
The South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) said in December 15 that the role will provide a platform to support issues related to women and youth empowerment in the tourism and the hospitality sector.
She will further spread the message of sustainability in tourism development and bring forward the friendly Pasifika spirit to the world through the South Pacific Islands tourism brand ‘Ours Is Yours’.
She will also be advocating on climate change to sustain the Pacific Islands conducted during the recent pageant.
This theme will connect sustainable tourism as the Pacific will move towards creating a sportive impact in the tourism industry.
It will highly impact the future social, economic and environment of the Pacific people and places.
It is expected by SPTO that the ambassador of Miss Pacific Islands will provide a platform through which one can tell their story to the world along with showcasing how to have deep meaningful connections between Pacific people and visitors.
Last week Matauaina represented American Samoa and was crowned the Miss Pacific Islands at the finale of the 31st Miss Pacific Islands Pageant in Nadi.
Currently she is employed for the American Samoa Visitors Bureau, and will now focus on fulfilling her role as the Pacific Queen.
