Mauritius and Seychelles have decided develop a unique tourism destination among the islands in the region which differs from other islands across the world. The two countries will further collaborate to consolidate the tourism industry.
This was discussed during a meeting held between Minister of Tourism and Culture of the Seychelles Alain St.Ange and Mauritius Prime Minister Anerood Jugnauth, at the Treasury Building in Port Louis.
Other topics raised pertained to a two-day meeting regarding the Vanilla islands concept chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism and External Communications, Xavier-Luc Duval, in view of increasing the visibility of the island destinations which are part of the Vanilla Islands namely: Reunion Island, the Seychelles, Madagascar, Mayotte, the Comoros, Maldives and Mauritius.
In a statement, Seychelles Minister of Tourism and Culture expressed satisfaction as regards his meeting with the Mauritius Prime Minister. He reiterated the interest of the Seychelles to strengthen both bilateral and friendly ties with Mauritius while at the same reinforcing cooperation in the tourism sector to make of the Vanilla Islands concept a success in the world.
According to him, both Seychelles and Mauritius are working together to transform the tourism area in the region as a destination suitable for cruise ships.
