Guests will be able to partake in a variety of fitness, spa and food and beverage offerings featuring leading health experts and brands. Health and wellness are key aspects of the culture at Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC, with tri-athlete, marathon runner and General Manager David Bernand leading the way. His passion and dedication to wellness and personal fitness are an inspiration to both employees and guests alike.



Bernand’s enthusiasm for health and fitness does not stop with his own daily routine. He also leads guests on a weekly morning run called Run My City. “With DC being ranked by the American Fitness Index as one of America’s fittest cities, we incorporate that health-conscious culture at our Hotel. The environment we create for both guests and employees is one that places wellness as a top priority. Participating in events such as Run My City and Global Wellness Day are an extension of that; it keeps our guests and employees engaged in wellness, while nourishing their mind, body and spirit.”



Fitness Activities on Global Wellness Day


7:00 am: Bernand will kick off the Global Wellness Day activities by leading guests on the Run My City course through DC’s most iconic monuments, memorials and museums. After participants have completed the approximately 5-kilometre run, they will return to Four Seasons.

8:00 am: A yoga ambassador from lululemon athletica will guide guests through a class alongside the C&O Canal.12:45 pm: SoulCycle will offer 20 complimentary seats for a commemorative Global Wellness Day ride at their Georgetown studio.

Green Goddess juice made with kale, basil, mint and honeydew and Superfood muffins with oats, carrots, blueberries, walnuts, flax seed and apples will be provided after each activity to help guests refuel and energise for the rest of the day.

Fitness activities are free and open to the public on a first come, first serve basis.The Global Wellness day celebration will also include a talk at The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC with renowned nutritionist Ashley Koff. Koff is among the Top 10 Registered Dietitians in the US by Today’s Dietitian Magazine, selected among CNN’s top 100 health makers and is one of the leading “50 Natural Influencers” in health and nutrition on Twitter. Her work has been featured in outlets such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Prevention, Shape, and The Huffington Post, and she is also a regular expert on The Dr. Oz Show.



Ashley’s nutrition mantra is that simple nutrition is better nutrition. To celebrate Global Wellness Day, she will talk about how everything one needs to know about better nutrition can fit on one page. Her plan “Better Nutrition, Simplified” emphasises quantity, quality, balance and frequency to lead her clients to better health the simple way.
