During a short visit to Frankfurt’s partner city Milan on 10 and 11 May, Peter Feldmann, Mayor of Frankfurt and Chairman of Messe Frankfurt’s Supervisory Board, made a stopover at the Group’s Italian subsidiary.
With this visit, Feldmann paid tribute to the subsidiary’s sterling work, stating that he was very proud and pleased that Messe Frankfurt’s Italian company was actively involved in organising the German Pavilion at the Expo 2015, which is currently being held in Milan. Feldmann: “The architectural design of the German Pavilion fits admirably with its subject matter and the organisation has been outstanding.” Messe Frankfurt was commissioned with this task by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) back in 2011.
Since 1998, Messe Frankfurt Italia has been a successful player in one of Europe’s most important economic regions. It is responsible for serving Italian customers attending trade fairs in Frankfurt or at one of the other 30 or so Messe Frankfurt locations worldwide.
Italy is one of the top exhibitor nations in Frankfurt. Every year, Messe Frankfurt Italia brings some 1,600 exhibitors and over 30,000 visitors to Frankfurt from Italy. These customers not only strengthen international economic ties, but also contribute to Messe Frankfurt’s continued success. Messe Frankfurt Italia also organises trade fairs and other events in Italy in the electric automation industry, such as SPS IPC Drives Italia, which is taking place in Parma this week between 12 and 14 May.
Among the representatives met by Mayor Feldmann in Frankfurt’s partner city Milan was Cristina Tajani, City Councillor for Labour, Economic Development, Universities and Research and Ruggero Gabbai, Chairman of the Expo Commission. The subject under discussion was the city partnership that has existed between Frankfurt and Milan since 1970. They also spoke about how the city of Milan secured the EXPO 2015 for its region and which investments and effects they hope to see in the city and region as a result.
In Frankfurt, the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Germany (ITKAM) is also an authorised sub-seller of EXPO tickets. The ITKAM is geared towards companies, institutions and Frankfurt citizens.
