The Allegiant Airlines jet taxied safely back to the terminal at about 12:30 p.m. The plane had taken off from Plattsburgh about an hour earlier headed for St. Petersburgh, Florida, but had to turn around after the pilot experienced mechanical problems with the instruments.
“It was pretty unnerving yeah, especially since we had to fly around for about 45 minutes to burn off the fuel. It was a bumpy ride. We just wanted to get our feet back on the ground,” said passenger Ken Naef.
“We were informed that it was going to be a rough landing but it was like a normal landing, so it was unnerving. The whole 45 minutes of waiting up there — and it was rough — but the landing was very easy, said passenger Stephanie Bonin.
No word from Allegiant yet about the exact nature of the problem. Passengers were told a plane wouldn’t be ready until 6:30 p.m. for their trip to Florida.
