Mega tourism campaign to be launched by Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka will begin a mega tourism promotion campaign in 12 key markets including China, starting mid-December, local media reports quoted the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) as saying here Friday.

 

 

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) mentioned that Sri Lanka will be starting a mega tourism promotion campaign in 12 key markets which will include China starting from mid-December.

 

 

At an estimated cost of 6 million U.S. dollars the mega adverting promotions will be launched as stated by the Chairman of SLTBP Kishu Gomes.

 

 

The campaign will be executed in different markets at different times. By mid-December they will begin the launch in some markets.

 

 

The markets include China, India and Australia, and selected countries in Europe and the Middle East. Depending on the prices in different countries the campaigns will run from between one to six months.

 

 

There will be 22 different marketing communication activities in 12 countries including advertising on television, radio, buses, trams etc.

 

 

After studying the Chinese online behavior a digital campaign will be launched in China. The April 21 suicide attacks which targeted churches and luxury hotels the Sri Lanka’s tourism industry was worst hit.

 

 

Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Christian Religious Affairs John Amaratunga said here recently that the industry had recovered from the attacks as over 118,000 tourists had arrived in the country last month.

 

It has been recorded that till October over 1.5 million tourists arrived and the government aims to attract 2 millions by the end of 2019.
