To promote the Mexican products and assists companies in tapping the Chinese economy through e-commerce Alibaba Group executive chairman and Jack Ma and Mexican president Enrique Pena Nieto have signed a memorandum of understanding.
The signatories of the partnership were Alibaba Group president Mike Evans and undersecretary of industry and commerce of the ministry of economy of Mexico Jose Rogelio Garza.
Small and medium-sized enterprise will expand into international markets particularly in China under the agreement.To start off with there will be a tailored program for them to benefit from the company’s business-to-business trading platform, Alibaba.com.
Alibaba’s expertise in logistics and payment platforms along with the ecosystem partners will promote the cross-border e-commerce capabilities of the Mexican companies. It is set to attract Chinese tourists to Mexico.
The president Pena Nieto said that Alibaba being one of the world’s largest technology company has a sophisticated e-commerce ecosystem and reaches out to more than 500 million active consumers across the globe.
He further mentioned the partnership with Alibaba, Mexico’s export options in China and in Asia will grow. The small and medium sized enterprises’ knowledge of e-commerce and cross-border trade will also expand.
China being Mexico’s third largest trading partner globally has a lot of scope for growth. A wide range of products are being sold by the Alibaba’s ecosystem.
