That territory -southwest and on the Pacific coast- has the highest occurrence of earthquakes in Mexico, with 30.81 percent of these natural events.
Nationally 5,471 earthquakes have occurred to date.
The National Seismological Service reported that the most recent quakes occurred Wednesday in Oaxaca, with epicenters near Rio Grande and Pinotepa Nacional.
The first one registered 3.4 degrees on the Richter scale, 17 kilometers northwest of Rio Grande and 16 kilometers deep.
A second quake had an intensity of 4.4 degrees, 70 kilometers of Pinotepa Nacional and 16 kilometers deep.
Mexico has a high seismic activity. An earthquake occurred in 1985, and recorded in the historical memory of the country, devastated Mexico City and caused thousands of deaths.
