The Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (MBVCA) received the honor of World’s Leading Tourist Board by the World Travel Awards. It was a big honor for them for sure. It surpassed its competitors like Auckland Tourism, Cancun Convention & Visitors Bureau, Cape Town Tourism, Rio Convention & Visitors Bureau, Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administrative Commission, and Visit London.
This award is a testament to the global appeal of Miami Beach as well as recognition and respect for this destination on a global stage. Peggy Benua, chair of the MBVCA said while accepting the award, “This award is a symbol of Miami Beach’s worldwide presence and certainly demand for our brand. We’re honored to have been considered, but to actually win this impressive and prominent award is an incredible endorsement of all the MBVCA is doing to share Miami Beach with the world.”
Before this award, Miami Beach received the award for North America’s Leading Tourist Board, competing against other tourist boards of the country. However, this isn’t the only award for the board. It has been awarded with other distinctions too. Miami won the first place in the 2016 Travvy Awards, presented by travAlliancemedia in the category of “Best Wedding Destination, U.S. & Canada.”
