With a totally unique deep rich smoky flavour, cocktail connoisseurs can sample this rare treat at the Michelin Starred Bohemia Bar & Restaurant in Jersey, for a bona fide taste of a bygone era.
Many spirits, like fine wines, get better with age, maturing in the bottle so you can experience the full flavour and depth of the drink.
Both the Red Vermouth and Campari in the Vintage Negroni were made using a different technique in the 1970s, and were macerated, not distilled. As such, oxidation in the 40 year old bottles of Campari and Martini has a huge effect on the taste and appearance, rendering the flavours far deeper and the colours richer and darker with age.
But the real magic comes when you combine these three magical 40 year old spirits together to create the classic Negroni, or to be more precise, the 1970s Vintage Negroni. Priced at £16.50, the cocktail will be available for customers to enjoy in both Bohemia Bar and the newly refurbished Michelin Starred Bohemia Restaurant.
The restaurant’s owner, Lawrence Huggler, hopes to let as many guests as possible experience this stunning beverage, hence Bohemia has already turned down two customers who wanted to buy the whole 1970s bottles, having tried the Vintage Negroni. There is only a very limited supply of these amazing vintage spirits available, so don’t delay in visiting to make sure you experience this sought-after drink.
