An issue on board QF568 was noticed with the air-conditioning system of the airplane that sent the crew into action. The Airbus A330 was travelling to Sydney from Perth and landed absolutely safely in Melbourne just after 6.20 a.m.
Prior to landing the flight descended to 10,000 feet where the cabin pressurization is not essential.
Thereafter the system was restarted gradually.
A spokeswoman mentioned that the issue impacted the aircraft’s ability to maintain pressure in the cabin. Passengers are currently being transferred onto the first available flights into Sydney.
Engineers would be inspecting the airplane in Melbourne.
Qantas said that oxygen masks have been deployed whenever an aircraft confronts with a pressurization issue.
