Travelling from Glasgow to Spain, the plane suffered a “pitch control issue” that affects the plane’s ability to fly and declared an emergency seconds after taking off.
The plane was carrying 194 passengers and five infants on board and it landed safely. The aircraft involved was a Boeing 737-800 with two jet engines.
Passengers were moved onto a Boeing 757 to continue their journey.
A spokeswoman for Jet2.com said that there was a small technical fault for which the pilot decided to diverted back to base as a precautionary measure. They apologised for the delay but continued that safety is their absolute priority and cannot be compromised.
Two other flights had to be diverted while the runway was closed.
