A commercial flight operated by Middle East Airlines, the national carrier of Lebanon, was forced to ask for an emergency landing after an air passenger of the plane assaulted an air crew member of the jet. Due to the hustle-bustle inside the jet, the pilot decided to make an emergency landing at the Ataturk International Airport, situated in Istanbul.
The Middle East Airlines flight was heading towards London after taking off from Beirut. The entire fiasco occurred when a male passenger attacked the stewardess of the jet and started to hit her. When another passenger came forward to help the female crew member, the incident worsened and everything turned into a state of chaos.
In order to ensure the safety of the passengers and the crew members, the pilot of the flight decided to make an emergency landing at the Ataturk International Airport.
Right after the flight landed at the airport in Istanbul, the Turkish security officials detained the unruly passenger. The flight later resumed its journey with the other passengers onboard.
The unruly man remained in Istanbul, where the security personnel launched an investigation against him.
