Following a recent survey of Middle Eastern tourists, it shows that they are now cautious and unwilling to travel to the US for a holiday. This is an after effect of threats banning Muslims and hate crimes against minorities, which has gained momentum after the recent US Presidential election of Donald Trump.
Arabians are now looking for alternative destinations for winter vacations. Last year, around 1.3 million Middle East tourists visited the US, spending above $8.5 billion, which was more than their European counterparts. Hence, with Middle Eastern tourists spending 84% more than Europeans, the US needs to make an effort to encourage tourism from this region.
If tourists from the Middle East decide against traveling to the US this winter, there will be a drop of $100 million in tourism revenue for the US. This will have huge impact on hotels, restaurants, theme parks and transportation. Studies say that no US city features among preferred destinations for Middle East tourists. For them, Nairobi, Athens, The Maldives and New Delhi are favored destinations for the winter.
