An Air India flight with 167 passengers from New Delhi to Milan had to return back to the New Delhi airport following reports of smoke in the cabin. Nearly 40 minutes after take-off for Milan, the passenger cabin was reportedly filled with smoke.
According to a tweet from Delhi Police Chief BN Bassi:
“Air India flt 137 Delhi to Milan which departed at 1500 hours has reported smoke inside the cabin. Full emergency landing back at IGI.”
The plane, a Boeing Dreamliner, landed in Delhi with ambulances and fire engines on stand-by. The passengers were evacuated with all safety standards in place and were transferred to another aircraft.
