Agustifo Tumundo who is the head of Minahasa Culture and Tourism Agency said that the festival is being supported by the Tourism Ministry in partnership with Kakigatal Production.
And the grand festival is slated to kick start with a Fun Walk that starts from the God Bless Minahasa Park, continuing around the city of Tondano and would conclude at Tondano Moraya Castle.
At the castle, the activity would continue to break a MURI record for the highest number of events.
Such activities would include all the urban communities and villages.
Alongside that, fried ‘mujair’ cooking competition would also be held that would have employees of regional administrations, vertical institutions, BUMD, BUMN and many districts who would participate. The ‘Ikan Nike’ cooking competition would also observe the active participation of school teachers from all across Minahasa.
Participants of Ikan Mujair Woku Belanga Cooking Competition would be competing to win the Minahasa Regent Perpetual Trophy, winner’s trophy and other prizes, he stated.
While the competitions would continue the visitors would be entertained by performances from Gio Idol, Isti Julistry and Komedi Nasional Mongol Stres.
The event aims to attract at least 10,000 visitors.
It also acts as a promotional tool for introducing Minahasa and other tourist locales in North Sulawesi. It further aims to achieve the provincial target of this year for the number of tourists that are 110,000 foreign and 1,500,000 domestic tourists, according to Esthy Reko Astuti who is the tourism marketing development deputy of the agency.
Esthy went on to add that Lake Tondano is among the 88 National Tourism Strategic Areas (KSPN) and also one of the seven lakes that are presently being rehabilitated by the Public Works and Housing Ministry.
The closing event of the festival would witness certain activities too, including the Tondano Choir Lake Festival, a cultural party and the release of 1,000 lanterns and 500 torches or ‘obor kasih’.
