The minister expects that not only the Super League Triathlon will eventually become a regular event in the island’s calendar but a successful weekend will fortify his cry out for additional state funds to be invested behind tourism practices. The Super League Triathlon will be held on 23rd and 24th September.
He said: ‘We are completely focused on delivering the best show we can offer and hopefully we will see the positive impact events like this can have. One of the ways I want to make tourism more productive in the winter months is with events. This is the first time we have had such a major event and if it is a success then it should lead to not only this becoming a more permanent fixture but encourage the Island to look for more big events in the winter months. The Tourism Development Fund now is pretty much used up and the department are working on proposals for putting money back into the fund.’
