The massive analysis of data in the report that looked over 15 billion visits to the major travel, airline and hotel websites in the United States reveal that one out of every five dollar spent in travel booking is coming from mobiles. The research was considered in the period between of 2013 to 2015. The research team from Adobe analyzed more than three million social media mentions and spoke to 1000 U.S. consumers to understand and comprehend the role of mobile devices in the travel industry.
Summer travel is pegged to be at $65 billion online on travel between Memorial Day and Labor Day, which comes in at 7% more than last year. As far as the bookings coming in at 20% from mobile (smartphones and tablets), this number is up over 6% from the previous year.
The mobile-friendly travel websites are encouraging more and more consumers to purchase their travel deals from their mobile phones and tablets.
Fine-tuning social media strategies can be more fruitful for marketers to promote travel websites than concentrating on mobile search protocols. The report predicted that this will be the first summer where travel purchases from phones will surpass purchases from tablets in the global travel industry.
