TOKYO — Japanese meteorological authorities said there were no reports of injuries or damage on Sunday after an earthquake of magnitude 5.0 shook a large area of the country.
The tremors were felt in Tokyo, Chiba and five other prefectures, but no tsunami alerts were issued, Japan Today said.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said the quake struck at 2:25 p.m. Japan time and was centered in southern Ibaraki Prefecture.The earthquake occurred at a depth of about 70 kilometers (43.5 miles).
