Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Malaysian Tourism and Culture Minister confirmed that Bentong has huge possibility for becoming a popular ecotourism destination in the world. He also said that this place in the long run will enhance Malaysian tourism industry as well. This is because the natural resources are well preserved and the eco-tourism product of Bentong can attract the locals as well the overseas visitors worldwide.
To quote the tourism minister after touring Caravan Serai Exclusive Villas, ‘’ So if the ministry provides support for ecotourism in Bentong, I am sure it will be a success and the people in Bentong will reap the benefits as it can develop the local economy and improve the local communities’ standard of living. As such I intend to turn this district into an ecotourism destination and hub.”
He also added that in the coming days new infrastructures like Bentong Bypass which is a part of Central Spine Road (CSR) project and East Coast Rail Line will enhance ecotourism of Bentong in the future. To Nazri, ‘’ We also have the support of the prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) in our efforts to develop ecotourism in the country as he has announced a RM400 million allocation for the purpose this year.’’
