As per the latest report of the Arizona Office of Tourism, this year, travelers have spent more money in Mohave County so far. This has raised tourism spending by 20 percent statewide ever since 2007.
According to the report, visitor spent reached a record $21.2 billion in Arizona in 2016. This means big for an emerging tourism industry like Lake Havasu City. As per the statistics available from the Lake Havasu City Convention and Visitors Bureau, Havasu witnesses about 300,000 visitors each year. As a result of this area businesses have increased in order to meet Arizona’s rising appeal to holiday travelers.
Cal Sheehy, London Bridge Resort General Manager believes that growing confidence in the U.S. economy may have proved be a key force in Americans’ eagerness to travel.
Sheehy said, “We’ve definitely noticed that our occupancy has been up, and there has been an increased demand for Lake Havasu property in the last 12 months. As people are traveling more, they find that Havasu is, geographically, an ideal spot for people making quick weekend getaways, or for long-term residence from places like Phoenix.”
According to the President of Lake Havasu City Partnership for Economic Development, Mr. James Gray, Havasu has lately become an undeniable tourism attraction in Northwest Arizona.
“Tourism is the driver of our economy,” Gray said. “It simply is the gateway for our growth and sustainability as a community. Lake Havasu City benefits from being both a winter and summer destination, leading to a higher level of service for our visitors.”
