December sees the opening of Mole, a new casual restaurant and bar with a maritime flair, on Münster’s Germania campus. Mole – taken from the German word for ‘pier’ – is the latest venture from David Deilmann, managing director of Factory Hotel. Located at the center of the Germania site, two sea containers are integrated into the design of the restaurant, giving this Design Hotels™ member a refreshingly original dining concept for hotel guests and Münster locals.
At the heart of Mole are two large sea containers which have been shipped to Münster from Hamburg harbor, before being installed in the grounds of the Germania site. The 120-cover restaurant embodies the seafaring charm and cosmopolitan spirit synonymous with the world’s largest trading ports.
The spacious bar area can accommodate up to 100 guests, with sports fans well catered for with three large screens showing the best of the weekend’s fixtures. The Landungsbrücke lounge is the perfect spot for r’n’r, and can be exclusively hired along with the restaurant and bar for private parties and corporate events.
Homage to the Sea
Chef Cord Breitzke has many years’ experience working both home and abroad under his belt, including stints in Greece, Ibiza and Fuerteventura. At Mole he has created a traditional menu with a maritime twist, with dishes for fish-lovers and land-lubbers alike. Classics such as Fish & Chips are joined by dishes from warmer climes including Pistachio Falafel with Cashew Yoghurt and Tomato Salsa and the Salmon Burger. While the children’s options of Pirates Platter and Sailor’s Yarn Spaghetti are sure to appease even the pickiest of eaters. The weekly brunch buffet ensures a leisurely start to a Sunday, and is sure to become a must for locals as well as hotel guests. An extensive range of craft beers and beer on tap is available at the bar, alongside Vodka Ahoy, the signature house cocktail.
