Mombasa gets a tourism boost as cruise ship brings 900 tourists

mombasaThe tourism industry of Mombasa got a boost during the weekend since a luxury cruise vessel arrived in this region carrying with about 991 tourists and several crew members on board.


The cruise ship is named MS Nautica and it is operated by Oceania Cruises.


Currently, the ship has been docked at Mombasa port around 7 a.m. on Saturday. It had come from Seychelles and it was carrying 591 passengers and 400 crew members.


This ship had come almost within a week after yet another cruise vessel named MS Silver Cloud had ushered in about 216 tourists and 222 crew members.


During 2015, Mombasa lured in over 3,000 cruise tourists while it had received just 900 tourists in the year 2014.


The tourists were supposed to leave for Zanzibar on Saturday evening. The cruise tourists represented people belonging to Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Germany, South Africa, Canada, Ireland, Sweden, UK and US.


When the tourists arrived, some tourists travelled to Shimba Hills Game Reserve and a few others chose to fly to Amboseli National Park for safari.


Other tourists visited Haller Park in Bamburi while the rest enjoyed a tour of Mombasa town.
