Mongolia’s  environment and tourism minister  stated that the country aims at hosting one million foreign tourists and earning one billion U.S. dollars in 2020.

Namsrai Tserenbat wants to increase the number of tourists by 30 percent per year in the coming years to reach this goal. The tourism products will be developed along with better services and tourism safety plans.

In 2017, Mongolia had received 470,000 overseas tourists which was 16 per cent more year on year. It generated an earning of more than 400 million dollars which was 20 percent more than last year.

Mongolia has been constantly making efforts in enhancing its tourism sector in order to diversify its mining-dependent economy.

Mongolia has declared 2018 as a tourism year and recently launched  hotline service for the foreign visitors which would provide information on popular destinations, ongoing events across the country.
