MontrealThough the summer season saw really poor season, the tourist arrivals as well as the tourism spending were up in Montreal for its 375th anniversary year, as per Tourism Montreal.

Industry projections estimate the tourism spending in this city would be touching $3.6 billion this year marking an increase of nearly 10% over last year. And, tax revenues would be boosted to $1.45 billion. Yves Lalumiere who is the president of Montreal said that the anniversary celebrations of the city have accomplished great things for this industry.

However, he also feels that just one-third of tourists are aware of the anniversary.

He attributes the growing number of American tourists to the favorable exchange rate and also the efforts of his organization in the nations like Mexico and China.

The efforts had been paid off with a 32% rise in visitors from China and a 19% increase in foreign tourists that amounted to about 6%. The passenger traffic was also up by about 11% at Montreal’s Pierre Trudeau International Airport in the months of June and July.
